Hi folks!
I recently wrote about three spots in Rome that not all know, I add the link here in case u missed it.
Now let’s start with my fav argument.. FOOD!!
Today I’m sharing with u the best place for me where to eat in Rome, from the breakfast to dinner.
Caffè:
Ok of course in Italy we are famous for espresso, I never understood why a country is famous for a thing that not growing in the same place, we don’t have coffee plants but we think our coffee is the best… (no still I can’t find a reason for it).
Anyway in Rome there is a coffee shop that I love, it’s called Sant’Eustachio.
Sant’Eustachio
Piazza si Sant’Eustachio, 82
It located near the Pantheon, that of course will be on your list of place to visit so why don’t treat yourself with a great espresso?
This place was my obsession since I was at school (yeah imagine a 15yrs girl obsessed by a coffee shop) this place was named on one of my books because they serve the best coffee ever since 1938, you can imagine how exited I was when finally in 2018 I went here 😍😍.
The particularity of this place is that the coffee machine is covered, no one knows how they make the espresso with a big foam and it’s all coffee there isn’t other ingredients. They serve u a cup of espresso that have 2cm of foam 🤯😍😍 and they ask u if u want it with or without sugar because they will add for u the perfect dose of it.
I suggest u the espresso, of course cappuccino is always great but if is your first time it’s better have an espresso to enjoy the foam.
Where to eat the best Maritozzi
Maritozzo is a sort of sweet bread filled with a lot of cream 😍😍😍😍
I don’t think could exist a bad Maritozzo but this are the two best places where to eat it in Rome:
Il Maritozzaro
Via Ettore Rolli, 50
It’s a small bar (coffee shop) near the Trastevere Train Station we had breakfast here a lot of time because was near to the Guesthouse.
I think there isn’t a better way to start the day than starting the day with maritozzo and a cup of cappuccino, plus in Rome u will walk a lot all the day so for sure you need a lot of extra energy 😜.
Regoli Pasticceria
Via dello Statuto, 60
The pastry shop isn’t far from Roma Termini we went there to pick the metro to Parco Degli Acquedotti, since the 1916 they serve the best Maritozzi of the city, I think their is one of those with more cream.
For the payment at the coffee shop only with cash and in the pastry shops with credit card and cash I don’t know why.
Aperitivo/Aperitif:
The Hole
Via dei Vascellari, 16
We went in this pub befor going to the restaurant Sora Lella, I loved the atmosphere, it is a small pub with walls covered with dark wood, it is very warm ambience.
They have a big selection of beers and cocktail, the list of the cocktail change with the season, like now they have a cocktail with pumpkin, how cool!!
Before the dinner I prefer something with a small ammount of alchol so I selected the Spritz with passion fruit ( every time I see passion fruit on the menu I order it), I loved this cocktail I was sad at the end because this place is far from home, but I can’t wait to return in Rome one day to go here again.
I’m in love of this type of cars.
Restaurants:
The zone of Trastevere is full of wonderful restaurant, so I suggest to take the hotel in this zone so in the evening u haven’t to go far for a good restaurant.
Nannarella
Piazza di San Calisto, 7/A
They don’t take reservations so always go early like 18:30-19 max so u will wait only for 15-20 min. to have a table.
At Nannarella they say that their carbonara is the best in the world.
I never tasted a bad carbonara so this makes me always feel a little bit confuse like: “it’s really exist somewhere a place that serve a bad carbonara? I mean egg, guanciale or pancetta, cheese, pepper u can’t go wrong with this ingredients”.
They serve all pasta inside small pans I loved that we eat of course carbonara and tonnarelli with meatballs I don’t know what suggest to u because was both so gooood!!
So u now u have to order both 😉,
After this giant dish of pasta we had no space for the dessert, I’m sure that their dessert had to be delicious.
Tonnarelli with meatball or Carbonara it’s really an impossible choice 🤤🤤
Sora Lella
Via di Ponte Quattro Capi, 16
Sora Lella is an institution in Rome the founder of the restaurant was Elena Fabrizi (called Sora Lella) she was the sister of the actor Aldo Fabrizi. She also had some part in the movie of Carlo Verdone, when u see Sora Lella in the movies u know that she is the emblem of Rome.
The restaurant is located on Isola Tiberina (Island Tiberina) I suggest to go here at the sunset, it’s really a magic place.
Here they serve Cacio e Pepe with a twist of mint traditionally cacio e Pepe are with tonnarelli pasta a sort of big spaghetti but they change the type of pasta frequently.
So this time they made Ravioli cacio e pepe always with a twist of mint,
THE PERFECTION!! Ravioli were so GOOD salty and the freshnes of mint are the perfect match.
What I loved more about this place is that if u split a dish they bring u two dishes with the food already split.
We ordered also meatballs because are delicious I don’t understad why is so difficult find a restaurant that serve meatballs are one of the best dish, every restaurant should serve it.
The restaurant it’s a little bit expensive but it's worth every penny, the quality of ingredients are so high and u can see that all dishes are made with love.
For us was impossible didn’t try it, we saw all the movies with Sora Lella, now the restaurant is owned by her nephews.
The world need more meatballs on the restaurant’s menù.
Contorno Self Bistrot
Via Giovanni Vitelleschi, 34
We went in Vaticano and I would love to try Pizzarium but in the evening we wanted to go to Nannarella so we wanted to be sure to keep space for Carbonara 😍😍
So I picked this self-service/shop in Rome u can find a lot of place that sell quick lunch at self service even some tobacco shop have it, when I went here for work I discovered a lot of different places doing the same things with different selection of foods, I never went in the same place in the past because I always get losted though the streets 😂😂
At Contorno u can have lunch with pasta, meat, fish and veggies they made u decided between different compositions that change every day.
We both selected a dish only with veggie with cicoria (chicory) and seasonal vegetables.
Soo good I don’t know if u like chicory but even if u don’t like it u have to try because in Rome they know how to reduce the bitterness of the herbs and it’s delicious cooked with chilli and a clove of garlic 😋.
These are Piennolo tomatoes, a unique variety of tomatoes that grow on the Vesuvius volcano.
The soil there gives the tomato a particular flavour, and they also last a very long time.
Street Food
Mordi e Vai
Nuovo Mercato Comunale di Testaccio, Via Beniamino Franklin, 12/E
It’s located in the market testaccino, luckily for us wasn’t far from our hotel, we found this place when we was walking to reach the city center.
We bought two panini (sandwiches), the price are extremely convenient, the panino with meatballs and tomatoes sauce it’s so delicious.
The meatballs are made with boiled beef this reminded the ones my mother makes, she always made meatballs with the left over of boiled beef.
The other panino was with veal and onion stew with a more delicate taste, really good, obviously the one with the meatballs is testier, but with both you can't go wrong.
I had never seen cactus pieces sold in Italy, I wonder how they are used.
Thanks for reading, I would love to know ur opinion, if u already went in one of this places or if u have other you would love to suggest.

Have a wonderful evening everyone
