Thank you for sharing this Laura. I have hypothyroidism. I am on a steady daily dose of levothyroxine and think I’m ok. I don’t know how long I’ve had this condition. I was diagnosed in 2008. That was only because I had a “new patient MOT” type appointment when I moved house and registered with a new doctor. I had all kinds of blood tests, and this was the result. I didn’t really notice any of the symptoms as anything particularly new, so could have had it for years before I found out.

Love the Frau Blucher bit! 🤣 🐎

I love the fact that when u change doctor u had to make all the blood test, it’s extremely useful and important.

I also had no idea that I had the symptoms of hyperthyroidism, but in my case I should understand that something was wrong, I remember that my watch told me I reached 150 heartbeats when I was quickly going up and down the stairs to carry out some boxes, I simply thought: “I should make more sport”.

The same for the eyes in the pic I took that selfie because an italian actor went in my store and i asked him to have a selfie, when I sent it to my mum she told me: “that’s great but u eyes are too much open”.

I think I’m not so smart like I thought. I also use levothyroxine from last march, I don’t understand why don’t produce a box for 365days, it would be so practical.

Hypo is the best because the medicine are better and it easier to manage (that’s what my doctor always said).

With hypo for now I only have problems with cold and hot, so every summer I try to travel in a place with a better clima like last yr in Normandy. And sometimes I feel sad, but still I don’t know if because last yr was challenging so my body try to return like before that or if is hypo so I immediately take a moment for me and I feel better.

Thanks a lot for ur kind comment 😘 🩷

I didn’t know I had any issues/problems either, until the blood results came back.

Well done for asking for a selfie with the actor! I’m not brave enough for that!

You are so right about getting more medication in one go. At first, I could get enough for six months in one go, which was great. I moved house and doctor again since then, and now I can only have enough for one month. It’s crazy - we are on these drugs forever, so why not give a larger amount? 🤪

I find that I get hot at times, but I’m 47 now, so is it the thyroid or perimenopause?! 🔥

I hear u! My doc the same only for one month, we have to took pills for the rest of our lives, what’s their problem they think we could take 365 pills in one shot? Or they think we want become the Escobar of the levothyroxine? Like: “Levothyroxine or plomo?”.

About the actor I simply think: “if I don’t do it I will regret?I will think everyday what if?” If the answer is yes I give a try, but I’m always extremely kind and I always say feel free to say no. Until now no one said to me no. But I don’t ask to everyone I see only if I really appreciate their works.

Regarding the hot I think it depends when u feel it’s too hot for u. During my hyperthyroidism period I had to take so many showers but the same last summer when I was hypo and I read that one of the side effects of levothyroxine it’s that u could have over sweating.

Thank you so much for writing this piece. I especially liked your line "At Christmas obviously I put on a few pounds, I am still Italian and for us Christmas lunch is a serious thing 🤣🤣🤣"

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Seriously though, I think sharing health experiences, especially how they interact with food, is always helpful. (A friend had Thyroid cancer a few years ago, had a very large goiter (goitre?) removed - they're doing great btw and their overall health helped manage that experience).

Thanks a lot to you dear Lisa ♥️♥️♥️♥️.

It’s impossible don’t put on pounds during the holiday season in Italy 🤣🤣.

Happy to know ur friend is fine now! U know that the metabolic radiotherapy it’s used to cure both hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer, they only gave two different doses but it’s the same pill.

Foods help a lot our body and health but accept ourselves it always the first step.
